Rukia Kuchiki: Sode no Shirayuki (Sleeve of White Snow) [link]

:bulletblue: Blade Length: 30 inches
:bulletblue: Handle Length: 10 inches
:bulletblue: Ribbon Length: 80 inches
:bulletblue: Total Length: 40 inches

This sword is handmade with no power tools (except a drill) out of strip pine wood and its full tang. Now i dont know why but many Sode No Shirayuki's made by people are straight its clearly curved XD. However i did make my Tensa Zangetsu straight but thats becuase it was too long. Now the only thing im upset with about this sword is how unsmooth the curve is. I tried to be real carefull but i could not get a smooth curve. The ribbon was fun to make but required sowing lol. I think i used an entire can of white primer spraypaint on this sword XD.

I would like to give a BIG thanks to charu-ri If it wasnt for her i would NEVER have finished this sword she has helped me every step of the way and cant thank her enough ^^.

oh my~ : D I like it very much :D it's beautiful and delicate, too (esp the guard cross <- it's amazing °0°;) and it's just perfectly white :D
also I love the ribbon - I'm sure it's fluttering very smoothly through the air - it looks so light <3

very well done and accurate work : D *cheers*
It looks excellent! after This one I can't wait to see your Benihime :D
How did you make the hand guard?
I haven't decided what bleach sword I will make next, I'm leaning towards Shinzo(Gin's sword)

How did I make the guard you say? Well its simple first get some MDF wood cut around the outside. Then drill holes in all the gaps inside. Get a coping saw thread the saw through and start cutting the inside out. Then sand like mad until its smooth ^^

Shinso far too easy for a person of your skill XD I wanted to see you make Ikkaku's zanpakutō Hōzukimaru (Demon Light) !!

I'm sorry I meant the handle not the hand guard, my bad :P , I really like how the back end of the handle is slightly higher than the rest, now thats what I call attention to details.
But that is interesting, you and I think alike, thats how I do my hand guards :D
Thanks! ^_^
I think I'm more obsessed with Gin himself than his sword, he's so awesomely evil looking :evillaugh: .

I am still thinking about Hozukimaru and how to have the parts detach and reattach(I'm a gluten for mental punishment) I most have watched the episode like 7 times in a row to figure out the process(I think that he pulls on the tassel to connect the 3 pieces and releases it to split them apart, that is why he is bested by Ichigo after the tassel is ripped off, at least thats my best guess as to how it works(or it could be magic then my whole theory is blown :P ) until I figure that out I was just playing around with making Shinzo
A: because I like Gin
B: because I can fit it under an over shirt and I can surprise people by yelling "Impale him, SHINZO!!!" (ok, I'm wildly immature but you know you would do it too :D )
and
C: Because its easy
Believe you me Hozukimaru may be on the back burner but IT IS COMING! :D

I saw this over on NF and wanted to say that this is really awesome work. Great job ^_^

How much does it weigh?
This i havent really weighed it officialy but i guess it weighs like a feather its VERY light since its all made out of wood.

Ah the handle is what you meant well... I glued a piece of balsa wood on either side and when i was using wood glue and used a rubber band at the end of the hilt to hold the 2 pieces of balsa wood still. After it dried i didnt notice that it had squeezed the balsa wood then compared to the other end which didnt had as rubber band was wider. So by accident the handle became sloped XD

Rawr.. Amazing friend... speaking of the straight / curve... i did mine straight for two reasons... i didnt think i could make it look as good with a curve since ive never done one, and i thought that a straight blade has more of a stronger look to it... (to speak nothing of me never having done a curve on a sword) but this looks good i love how all your work looks so smooth... <nod>

When thought fails you, use your instincts, if those fail, you're screwed.
Well if you had done a curve if you had an electrical saw then it should have been FAR faster, smoother, cleaner, even curve. When you saw out a long curve with a coping saw you must take in account: The angle of sawing, the speed of sawing, the eveness of the sawing, the tempreture of the blade, avoiding the natural grain and a steady hand XD. If you look at the blade you can see it is uneven even though i sanded down as much as i could without lowering the width of the blade. A straight would have been easier but a curve looks more natural ^^
