Speed Swordmaking: Tsuka by chioky Speed Swordmaking: Tsuka by chioky
This was a short tutorial I made because... people kept asking me how I got some ray skin onto my handles. So better then just explaining it I made an entire tutorial about it. I also threw in the updated version of how I make tsuka handles for my swords which are stronger and alot more high quality. However this tsuka is halfway between crap and great, crap meaning what I previouisly used and great is where the tsuka actually comes apart from the katana. So in the future when I copy making a katana part by part prepare for the ultimate tutorial

I think i'll try that with my next sword, though i didn't realise you could bend balsa wood that far

It would save a lot of work though with the sanding you wouldn't have to do XD
Reply
:iconchioky:
chioky Featured By Owner Dec 31, 2008  Student Artisan Crafter
you can bend balsa wood across and curve lol, though the bigger the curve you need double the length of the balsa, otherwise it will snap

It will snap sometimes but wood filler is always there to help ^^

wood filler really is the solution to everything when it comes to swordmaking isn't it? XD
