This might be the last lesson becuase I cant find anymore sword anatomys.

The Sabre or Saber, is a one handed sword that ussually has a curved blade and a rather large hand guard. The hand guard covers the knuckles of the hand as well as the thumb and forefinger. The sabre is one of the special swords that when discovered is still in use today. For example it appeared in Europe around the 10th century. However the important use of the sabre appeared in the world war, where it was an essential calvery weapon. Today it is not a weapon of war but a ceremonial weapon used Army, Navy, and Coast Guard officers of the US army.

Knuckle Bow: A single strap running from the quillon to the pommel. Guarding the front of the hand.

Pommel: The "cap" on the end of the hilt. It helps hold the hilt together.

Backstrap: A metal strap running down the back of the handle, resting in the palm of the hand.

Grip: The handle of a sword, usually made of leather, wire, bone, horn, or ivory.

Quillion: The term for the two cross-guards, forward and back whether straight or curved.

Langet: Small extensions of the guard that hold the sword secure in the scabbard.

Spine: The spine is the part of the blade opposite the edge. Double-edged swords have no back.

Edge: This is the sharpened portion of the blade. A sword may be single or double-edged.

False Edge: This is the unsharpened part of the blade which is ussually the back of the blade.

Point: The point is the end of the sword furthest away from the hilt. Most swords taper to a point at the tip.

Crest: It is the cap that surrounds the end of the chape on the scabbard

Chape: The end cap of the sheath, it's the part that drags on the ground.

Scabbard: Self-explanatory. It is the blades home when not in use.

Suspension Ring: Parts that dangle from the scabbard so you can attach your sword to yourself.

Locket: The open part of the scabbard that the blade slides into and locks in place.
