The purpose of these drawings is to help swordmakers and propmakers. When it comes to making katana's or zanpakuto's most of the time the tsuba is the most unique part of the sword. It is the part of the katana which has most of design. So I drew up these closely detailed and accurate measurements of these tsuba's. With these tsuba's they act as a reference when your going to attempt to make the sword. If you use a scene from a anime or manga to make use reference for your tsuba, it might be flawed. So I have saved you the trouble and drawn them all out clearly, with measurements so you can print and cut them out.
Ryujin Jakka: So this is one of the tsuba's that I spent a long time researching. Its first appearance was when yammato released his shikai against his 2 fellow captains. In the scenes that showed his shikai we could see it was an oval shape. The hard part was finding if it had any details on the faces of the tsuba. On the anime shots I could see several straight lines sprouting from the center. In the manga nothing. However after the recent Bleach chapters it was made certain that yammato's tsuba is actually your plain average oval. All that research only to confirm it was an oval.
Minazuki: My gosh this was also as hard to research as yammato's shikai aswell. Not only did unohana rarely ever use her zanpakuto we could never see a shot of the tsuba. I think I saw in total 2 shots of her tsuba after researching. One shot was at too much of an extreme angle, the other shot was so tiny. Then I received a note from a person showing me Bleach character concept drawing of unohana. There I saw her tsuba so then I drew it. I have to mention this was very difficult to draw accurately becuase, in technical drawing double elipse's are one of the hardest things to draw accurately.
Important Notes:
. ALL these guards slide into swords with a thicnkess of 5 mm and 30 mm long, there are some exceptions. .The parrallel lines are the rims of the guards that you cut out of balsa wood and glue onto the main guard. .Download the full version, then copy and paste it, print it off then cut it out with scissors. .Once it the paper tsuba is cut out, then draw around it with a pencil on the wood, then cut it out to finish.
