Bleach: Diamond Dust Rebellion

Journal Entry: Tue Sep 16, 2008, 1:34 PM
... was a bad film.

Bleach: Memories of a Nobody was a bad film, Bleach: Diamond Dust Rebellion is just slightly better than the first film, but that doesnt make it a good film overall. Where as the first movie had a decent plot, it lacked fighting animation. However the second movie lacked plot but had alot of fighting animation. The first thing that grinds my gears about Diamond Dust Rebellion is that the entire movie is centered around toushiro. Now im not saying Toushiro is bad as a character, he is bad as an icon. Toushiro shocked the fanbase of Bleach by ranking first in the Bleach popular character poll, beating every other single character. With this immense popularity toushiro affected the very plot line of Bleach. By appearing on alot more panels and screentime.

When you have the most popular character of the show, he will then get alot more screen time to raise ratings. Thus the second movie was made centered around him. Whats funny is half way through the hueco mundo arc kubo tite even wrote a short chapter entirely for toushiro as a promotion of the movie right in the middle of the kenpachi and noi fight. Thus studio periot now will give toushiro more screen time for the fans. Since his shikai and bankai have been fully explored his character has no secrets left and can be exploited.

rant about toushiro over back to the movie. It had very little plot to it, and the ending could be seen a mile away. If your going to watch the movie dont expect to see a plot. They put most of the budget in the fancy fighting animation. However when there wasnt any fighting going on the characters art looked terrible in some scenes. The best part without spoiling people was kenpachi, he appears and makes the movie better. Whats laugh out loud funny is that chad and orihime together had almost less than 1 minute of total screentime in the 130 minutes duration. Though it had tsuba's thats cool.

Sailor Moons Tuxedo Mask

Its official I will be cosplaying as Tuxedo Mask at the october MCM Expo which is about just a month away. But lets first rewind back to the most popular choices I didnt pick. Ishida from Bleach, well I already cosplayed as one character from Bleach already, Urahara that is. Jin from Samurai Champloo, well I really didnt wanne make his swords, becuase I already have swords to make. Kyoya Ootori from OHSHC I decided would not be as much as fun as Tuxedo Mask because I would not be in a full host club style. If we take a look at the poll if we just round the number of votes, we have 300 for Tuxedo Mask and 100 from Kyoya. It seems that a 2/3 of my admirers want to see me as Tuxedo Mask. So I myself would like to cosplay as him, and so does the majority of everybody else. May the other cosplay ideas be for next year.

I chose Tuxedo Mask simply becuase I admire his character alot. I think he is the iconic definition of a super male hero, in the purest form you will find an image of him. I like to dress in formal wear and so does he. We both sometimes like to hide our identity, I really like roses and so does he. Whenever the sailor scouts were in a bind with some generic evil villian you could always count on a rose being thrown from the shadows. He is the gentlemanly hero, who fights evil at night, but he is just a normal guy in day.

Originally I was going to buy the costume online, however it is terrible expensive. However his costume is very much formal wear which is somthing common to buy. So I have decided to make some of the costume parts I can, and buy the rest I cannot, thus spending less then buying the whole thing:

Gloves: Bought
Mask: Will make
Cape: Will make
Top Hat: Will make
Bow Tie: Bought
Cane: Will make/Bought
Shoes: Already Owned
Roses: Will Buy
Dress Trousers: Already Owned
Dress Waistcoat: Looking for
Dress Blazer: DESPERATE NEED IN LOOKING FOR
Dress Shirt: Already Owned

The cape, mask, top hat and maybe the cane are all simple to make, those will just take time. The Dress Waistcoat, well they are terrible difficult to find. However for men that is, for women its not a dress waistcoat, its simply a skinny waist coat. I just need to find a plain white one. The gloves were real cheap, bought from a costume shop. The bowtie, which is impossible to find a white one, they are all black period. However I have bought one, but is far from looking real. The roses? they will be fake they wont last if there real.

The real problem is that damn dress blazer, dress blazers are the most expensive, hardest to make type of blazers. They have a real skinny front however they have a huge penguin flap at the back. They are ussually terrible expensive and not somthing easily made by my hands. Also dress blazers will be hard to find in size. So if any of you spot people selling dress blazers on the internet please do tell me. That and I need to know how to attach the cape.

If I remember correctly, when wearing a cape on a Tuxedo Club-style jacket (you called it "blazer;" perhaps this is a British vs American terminology thing), there are tabs on the cape that attach by means of button-type studs (which have heads on both ends, something similar to a rivet, if you follow my terminology) to button holes in the upper part of the jacket lapels ... above the notch, above where a boutonniere or carnation goes. Actually, the image of Tuxedo Mask that you have affixed to this journal post seems to have the stud heads showing ... those white things that look like buttons way up high on his lapel, higher than any regular button or lapel pin. Most people would wear the cape just slightly draped over the shoulders, to where it would fall away from the sleeve only about five or six centimeters below the shoulder seam ... but I think Tuxedo Mask's cape is cut to fall completely behind his shoulders. This I cannot remember for certain.

Old memories of an older style of dress ... which I wish would come back. Creative elegance in fashion is sorely missing in this far-too-casual world. (And I will stop lecturing now.)

Might I give you a hand with your math Mr. C...

"we have 300 for Tuxedo Mask and 100 from Kyoya. It seems that a 2/3"

100/300=400

3/4 = T.M
1/4 = K

3/4 want to see you as Tuxedo mask. ^^""" Sorry... it was bugging me ><
WOW D: Tuxedo Mask.. *q*
